levels

Each level is desirable in its own right. One generally begins with fundamentals and "progresses" at their own unique pace. Though, keep in mind, as one journeys through the method it is advantageous to continually revisit "accomplished" levels. One's body is different and changing with each day. One may be working on an advanced level one day, and be refreshing their skills in a beginner or fundamental class the very next day.

Beginning

Learn the language of Pilates, fluency is not expected. Learn the basic 5-10 exercises with an emphasis on breath, identification of core muscles and pelvic and spinal alignment.

Beginning/Intermediate

Use your foundation of knowledge to begin moving at a rhythmic pace. Here, the class will work towards establishing a solid understanding of the basic 10 exercises and begin increasing the repertoire with additional optional exercises. Hone in on core strength and increase breath control.

Intermediate into Intermediate/Advanced

The experienced student embarks on greater coordination, endurance, and uniform development. Tempo is increased as 25+ exercises are executed with increased complexity, vigor, and depth. Here, there is a growing need for full body usage and awareness.

Advanced

Who said Pilates isn't cardiovascular? Here, we move through the entire repertoire of the mat method. Thorough bodily knowledge and Pilates experience is necessary to ensure such fluidity, range, and tempo are met with precision, control, and appropriate execution. If you feel up for it and you're ready then have fun, concentrate, and get prepared to sweat.
